We have provided protection to the Victorian community for over 58 years, offering residential aged care, home concern packages, respite care, income support, community housing, community programs, disability and nursing services. We produce optimal finest for people of all ages, irrespective of financial, religious, cultural or lifestyle background. Our staff are culturally and linguistically diverse, representing 86 nationalities and speaking 98 languages. Mecwa concern has a Board of Directors which is elected from the mecca care membership in accordance with the Articles of Association, and a Chief Executive who is supported by a Leadership Team. Mecwacare is a major provider of residential, nursing and encourage services for the delicate aged, disadvantaged and people with special needs and disabilities. Mecwacare's primary objective is to enhance the quality of life of people in need of care, especially the elderly, through the delivery of innovative, responsive and fully evaluated services offered in residential settings, community facilities and clients' homes. Beginning steps In the 1950s councilors at the City of Malvern came up with the idea of providing the beginning senior citizens’ center in Malvern. The fresh center was completed in 1958, and the City of Malvern invited members of the community to be directly involved in caring for their relatives and friends. In 1960 mecca began our mealsonwheels service, and we opened our beginning Opportunity Shop in Malvern in 1964 to raise funds to encourage our services. This urgent source of fund raising was expanded with the opening of our Malvern East place in 1969 and our Windsor store in 1996. Diversifying our services Self-reliant living units were opened at mecca House in Warner Street Malvern in 1973, and demand in the area continued to grow. The 1970s also brought about the acquisitions of what is now the Bowen Street center and a property in Fisher Street, Malvern East at the time a bottom for our meals on wheels services, but later to become our day center for people with a disability. In 199 we established Rivendell House Community center in Pakenham, providing social and activity programs to earlier people and people with an acquired brain injury living in the region. New millennium brings large changes In 2001 to further accommodate increasing demand we constructed a brand new aged protection facility the Noel Miller center in Glen Iris. This resulted in the sale of Olive Miller Nursing Home with all residents moving across to the fresh facility. In 2009 we made the decision to accessible down our first day center and consolidate the services it provided to former people into our Bowen Street site. In 2007 our name changed from mecca to mecca care, representative of the focus of the organization as we grew into a larger concern and services provider across Melbourne and into regional Victoria. Fisher Street center in Malvern East provides day programs for people with disabilities, including skills building, education, vocation support, inclusion promote and leisure activities. Our services to people with a disability are growing significantly, both as centrebased programs and as care and respite services provided into our client’s homes where we have clients ranging from infants to old age. Our Community centers at Bowen Street Malvern East, and Rivendell House Pakenham present programs for people with dementia, people with an acquired brain injury, and former adults looking for social integration and inclusion. More recently we have expanded our Community Housing Services, now providing over 90 units to people over 65 or people with a disability. We have fully renovated units in Beaumaris, and new units in Sandringham and Glen Iris. With a strategic plan for service growth, mecca care is always seeking opportunities to magnify our services and yield concern and support to the Victorian community in innovative ways.
